Designing a new bookmark may send your favorite youngster to Washington, D. C. during the America 250 celebration. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Office of the Second Lady of the United States are sponsoring a bookmark designing contest for kids in grades K-8. Themes may include America’s history or heritage; important moments or people; hopes for the future; symbols of unity and democracy; and others. 

    Three national winners will be selected, one each from grades K-2, grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. Each winning student will be invited to Washington, D. C., accompanied by a parent or guardian, to participate in an event one day at the Great American State Fair, scheduled to take place from June 25 through July 10, 2026.The winning designs will be featured on the NEA website and printed and distributed to the public at the Fair and other related NEA and Second Lady events.
