There are numerous activities that are patriotic and “just for fun,” for staff, families and others, such as:
- Set aside a day of the week (or specific days) for members to dress up in red, white and blue. Consider even having a “best patriotic dress” contest. Provide fun prizes.
- Have a patriotic “bake-off,” inviting members to bake and decorate patriotic cakes, cookies and other treats. Judge the winners, give them a prize and eat the treats!
- Make Thomas Jefferson’s favorite ice cream (Dolly Madison’s favorite flavor was oyster!). You can find Jefferson’s recipe at Monticello.org.
- Make patriotic wreaths and hang them at home, headquarters, or campaign offices.
- Set up an ice cream bar after a Central Committee Meeting with red, white and blue toppings
