The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation has produced “America’s 250th Celebration for Business Playbook,” designed to help businesses, chambers of commerce and other organizations celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. According to the Foundation, businesses are “among the most trusted institution” and “uniquely positioned to bring people together, elevate civic learning and champion civil dialogue.
The “Playbook” offers ideas for celebration as well as tips for organizing and success. It is available for no fee at https://www.uschamberfoundation.org/civics/250th-business-playbook.
To understand why businesses should promote civic literacy and civic engagement, read “The Business Case for Civics Education,” published in the Harvard Business Review. “The evidence is clear,” the article notes, “informed and active citizens make for a strong country, a strong economy, and a strong workforce. Our continued prosperity depends on the strength of all three, and so does the long-term health of America’s economy.” You can read the entire article at https://civics.uschamberfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/The-Business-Case-for-Civics-Education.pdf
